AL wild card: Game notes and gamethread

The Kansas City Royals host postseason baseball for the first time in 29 years, but will it last only a day?

We're going to have a gamethread for each day of the postseason, whether it's one game or four at a time.

Tonight, all attention is on the AL wild card game.

Oakland Athletics vs. Kansas City Royals

Notes

*A couple of controversial lineup choices for Ned Yost, mainly playing Mike Moustakas and batting Eric Hosmer cleanup against Jon Lester. Hosmer is 4-for-13 in head-to-head matchups, and owns the Royals' only homer off him

*It's Adam Dunn's first postseason game, and he isn't starting. Just sets up a pinch-hit homer off Kelvin Herrera, is all.

*The first pitch of this game could be AWESOME.

*For Lester and James Shields, this situation is the reason their current teams traded for them. No pressure.
