It felt like a Post Season atmosphere to one team and a Spring Training atmosphere to the other.
The Angels started the 2014 season off with three straight losses to the Mariners and it looks like they are trying to finish it up that way too.
Mike Morin was pitching in his second inning of relief in the bottom of the eleventh inning when he gave up a one-out double followed by a single to put men on the corners. Vinnie Pestano was summoned to the mound. Keep in mind that Sunday will be a Cory Rasmus-led bullpen game. A sharp grounder to a drawn-in Grant Green caused him to hesitate throwing home and in electing to try a double play the speedy Austin Jackson crossed the 1B bag safely by a hair and the run scored at home counted.
C.J. Wilson bounced back from a terrible outing last week. He enjoyed a dominating six innings pitching against the Mariners on Saturday night. He allowed only four hits, but one was an RBI double in the seventh inning that had been led off with what would be his third and last BB of the game. He left with he score tied 1-1 and Fernando Salas saw to it that no other runs would score in that frame.
Jason Grilli loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth inning with nobody out. And then he got out of it. If that happens in October it shaves a good three years off your life in stress if you are a true Angels fan. Tonight it makes us all go - huh, wow, cool...
