Rusney Castillo is in the lineup Saturday night as the Sox go for some late-season feel good wins against the division champion Orioles.
As ever, Rusney Castillo's lineup status is the center of pre-game attention, and there's good news for Red Sox fans today. Their new outfielder will bat sixth--the highest spot he's occupied yet--as he starts his second straight game in center field.
While everyone's focused on Castillo, though, it's really Rubby De La Rosa who needs a big game. While the Sox have seen relatively little success from their young starting pitchers this year, De La Rosa has certainly looked like the most viable arm over the course of the year--at least until recently. Perhaps it's just a matter of the number of innings he's thrown, but De La Rosa seems to be running out of gas.
The good news: he doesn't have to make many starts before hitting the offseason and getting a chance to rest up. The bad news: he still has those two to go, and tonight is one of those two. Maybe he can show he's still got something left in the tank, but given the recent performances, any decent outing should probably be seen as a success.
