Things could happen, or they could not. Either way, we're here, and that's breathtaking.
In 20 years, maybe we'll remember Jeremy Guthrie as the starting pitcher who sent us to the Promised Land for the first time in our lives (or in 29 years, if you're less young). Maybe we'll remember this lineup, with Alcides Escober batting leadoff, as the one that clicked and reduced the magic number to zero.
Or maybe not! Maybe tonight will be a letdown, like the last 29 years have led us to expect. Maybe something truly Yosty will happen, and we'll all go to bed angry.
Either way, settle in here. Consider this your home for both parts of the Battle For Grass Creek.
Our mighty lineup:
1. Alcides Escobar 6
2. Nori Aoki 9
3. Lorenzo Cain 8
4. Eric Hosmer 3
5. Billy Butler DH
6. Alex Gordon 7
7. Salvador Perez 2
8. Omar Infante 4
9. Mike Moustakas 5
Jeremy Guthrie will start for Kansas City, his 32nd start of the year, one shy of his 2013 total.
Shall we do this? Let's do this.
